Group Information The Phoenix Association is a non-profit organization servicing the Toronto area since 1982. We offer a friendly, supportive environment where participants can get accurate information and share experiences with others who have genital herpes. All information is held in strict confidence. As we are a volunteer organization, calls are returned in the evenings & weekends. Support is provided on two levels, a 'self-help' open forum once a month, and a monthly social event. We currently have active members ranging from 18 - 70 years old, with an equal mix of men and women. Self-help forums are held monthly and cover topics from various drugs and their side effects, herbal remedies, and how to tell a partner, role-playing, etc. We do host guest speakers and have had Dermatologists, General Practitioners, and Specialists in Eastern and Western medicines, and Naturopaths. After each Self-Help Meeting existing members are invited to join and meet the new members at our monthly "After Self-Help Pub Night". Held at a local bar we usually arrive at about 10:15 PM (Members, please see the Members Area for more information). For an overview of upcoming self-help forums and Orientation dates click here. The Phoenix Association is also a member of the American Social Health Association (ASHA), which sponsors the Herpes Resource Centre (HRC). The HRC serves tens of thousands of individuals per year through the Herpes Hotline at 1-919-361-8488. If you have any questions about Phoenix then please contact us. We also have information on how to join. |
